Bali Wedding Association Inaugurates New Board for 2026-2030, Strengthening Bali’s Position in the Global Wedding Industry

The Bali Wedding Association (BWA) officially inaugurated its new Board of Committee for the 2026-2030 period on Wednesday, 12 August 2026, marking a new chapter in the association’s commitment to strengthening Bali’s position as one of the world’s leading destination wedding locations.

Held at Sanur Resort Watujimbar at 4:00 PM, the inauguration brought together distinguished representatives from Bali’s tourism and hospitality industry, BWA members, industry partners, and members of the national media.

The inauguration was not only a formal transition of leadership, but also an important moment for BWA to introduce its vision for the next four years under the leadership of newly elected Chairwoman Veronika Ika Prawasti, SE., MBA.

At the heart of the new chapter is a four-part vision:

Connect • Educate • Collaborate • Elevate

Together, these principles represent BWA’s commitment to building a stronger professional community, developing the capabilities of its members, strengthening collaboration across Bali’s tourism ecosystem, and elevating Bali’s reputation within the global wedding industry.

A New Chapter for the Bali Wedding Association

The formal inauguration was led by Prof. Cok Oka Sukawati, Chairman of the Regional Leadership Board of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Bali, accompanied by the Secretary of PHRI Bali.

The ceremony began with the official reading of the PHRI Bali Decree concerning the appointment of the Bali Wedding Association Board of Management for the 2026-2030 period. This was followed by the formal inauguration of the newly appointed board.

The inauguration included the reading of the Board’s oath and official inauguration declaration, followed by the presentation of the BWA pin and the symbolic handover of the BWA Pataka, or association banner.

The BWA Pataka was presented by Prof. Cok Oka Sukawati to newly elected Chairwoman Veronika Ika Prawasti, SE., MBA, symbolising the formal transfer of leadership and responsibility for the association’s new four-year period.

Following the handover, the newly appointed Chairwoman was invited to unfurl the Pataka before joining the leadership and invited guests for an official photograph.

The formal ceremony was then followed by remarks from Chairwoman Veronika Ika Prawasti and the Chairman of PHRI Bali. The official ceremony programme confirms the sequence of the PHRI decree, Board oath, inauguration declaration, pin presentation, and handover of the BWA Pataka.

Distinguished Guests from Bali’s Tourism and Hospitality Industry

The inauguration was attended by distinguished leaders and representatives from across Bali’s tourism, hospitality, travel, and wedding industries.

Among the invited VIP guests were:

  • Prof. Dr. Ir. Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati, M.Si. – Chairman of PHRI Bali
  • Putu Dewi Ariantini, SE., M.Si. – Executive Director of PHRI Bali
  • I Gusti Agung Ngurah Rai Suryawijaya, SE., MBA – Chairman of PHRI Badung
  • Dr. Trisno Nugroho, SE., MBA – Member of the PHRI Bali Board of Experts (Dewan Pakar)
  • Gusti Ayu Purnamawati – Representative of ASITA Bali, Vice Chair of the Organisation Division
  • I Wayan Suwitra – Representative of Bali Hotel Association (BHA), CSR & Event Manager
  • Wayan Sriasih – Representative of Bali Villa Association (BVA), Secretary

Their presence reflected the increasingly important relationship between Bali’s wedding industry and the island’s broader tourism ecosystem.

Destination weddings involve a wide network of professionals and businesses, from hotels and villas to travel agencies, venues, florists, photographers, event professionals, transportation providers, and many other tourism-related businesses.

For BWA, strengthening these connections is essential to ensuring that Bali continues to develop as a professional and internationally competitive wedding destination.

The event was also attended by BWA members and members of the national media, providing an opportunity to bring the wider wedding community together and introduce the association’s direction for the new period.

Connect, Educate, Collaborate, Elevate

In her address as the newly inaugurated Chairwoman of BWA, Veronika Ika Prawasti introduced four guiding principles that will shape the association’s direction for the 2026-2030 period:

Connect • Educate • Collaborate • Elevate

The vision reflects the belief that the future of Bali’s wedding industry depends not only on individual businesses, but on the strength of the industry as a collective.

Connect

At the foundation of a strong industry is connection.

BWA aims to strengthen connections among wedding professionals, hospitality businesses, tourism organisations, government stakeholders, industry associations, international partners, and the wider community that supports Bali’s destination wedding ecosystem.

By creating stronger connections, BWA hopes to provide a platform where members can exchange knowledge, share experiences, build professional relationships, and discover new opportunities.

Educate

A professional and sustainable wedding industry requires continuous learning.

Through education, knowledge sharing, and the development of industry standards, BWA aims to support its members in continuously developing their knowledge, skills, and professional practices.

Education will also allow Bali’s wedding professionals to respond to changing international expectations and evolving trends within the global destination wedding market.

Collaborate

The development of Bali’s wedding industry cannot be achieved by one organisation or business alone.

Collaboration is therefore a fundamental part of BWA’s new direction.

By strengthening relationships between wedding professionals, hotels, villas, venues, travel agencies, suppliers, tourism organisations, government stakeholders, media, and international partners, BWA aims to create a more connected and collaborative industry ecosystem.

Through collaboration, the association can help create opportunities that extend beyond individual businesses and contribute to the wider tourism economy of Bali.

Elevate

Ultimately, the purpose of connection, education, and collaboration is to elevate.

BWA aims to contribute to raising the professionalism, credibility, and international reputation of Bali’s wedding industry.

The ambition is for Bali to be recognised not only for its natural beauty and extraordinary wedding venues, but also for the professionalism, expertise, standards, and integrity of the people who work within its wedding industry.

Through stronger industry representation, international promotion, strategic partnerships, education, and collaboration, BWA seeks to strengthen Bali’s position as a trusted, professional, and world-class destination for weddings.

Connect. Educate. Collaborate. Elevate.

These four principles provide the foundation for BWA’s journey through 2026-2030.

Looking Towards the Global Wedding Market

Bali has long been recognised internationally as an exceptional destination for weddings. As the global destination wedding market continues to evolve, BWA sees an opportunity to further strengthen Bali’s reputation through greater industry collaboration and international engagement.

The new BWA structure includes a dedicated Marketing & International Promotion division, reflecting the association’s intention to strengthen Bali’s presence within the international wedding market.

Its broader direction includes opportunities for international media relationships, strategic partnerships, destination marketing, international wedding exhibitions, and initiatives that promote Bali as a professional destination for couples from around the world.

The objective is not simply to promote individual wedding businesses, but to collectively strengthen the credibility and reputation of Bali as a destination.

When Bali’s wedding industry grows stronger as a whole, every professional and business within the ecosystem has the opportunity to benefit.

Honouring the BWA Board 2022-2026

While welcoming its new leadership, BWA also took the opportunity to honour those who helped shape the association’s previous chapter.

The inauguration was accompanied by an Appreciation Night for the BWA Board of Management for the 2022-2026 period.

The evening recognised the dedication, time, and contributions of the outgoing board during their four-year term.

As a gesture of appreciation, members of the previous board were presented with certificates of appreciation and commemorative souvenirs as a lasting recognition of their service and contribution to BWA.

The moment provided an opportunity for the BWA community to look back with gratitude while welcoming the new leadership with optimism for the years ahead.

The transition represents more than a change in names and positions. It reflects the continuation of a collective effort to build and strengthen Bali’s wedding industry from one leadership period to the next.

Together, We Elevate Bali

The inauguration of the BWA Board for the 2026-2030 period marks the beginning of a new chapter for the association.

It is a chapter built on connection, continuous learning, stronger partnerships, and a shared ambition to elevate the industry.

With Veronika Ika Prawasti, SE., MBA at the helm and a newly appointed Board of Management representing different areas of the wedding and tourism ecosystem, BWA enters its next four years with a clear direction.

Connect. Educate. Collaborate. Elevate.

Four principles. One collective vision.

To bring Bali’s wedding industry closer together, to help its professionals grow stronger, and to elevate Bali’s position on the global wedding stage.

The journey for 2026-2030 has officially begun.
